The 4th Game - "RAZe the Ground and Salt the Earth" a.k.a Raz v Pip & FF

I have been wanting to write about NeoRazgriz ("Raz") for sometime now but I just could not find a proper replay to show how skillful he is as a tactician. Searching through my SC replay folders, I finally found what I was looking for. It was a scary replay that I thought I blocked from my memory forever.

This was a game where Raz actually held off Pip and FF in the Lost Temple. In this game, I practically did nothing. If any of the 419-ers doubt the sincerity of this post, I will be happy to provide them with this replay. I was stone cold in my tracks with Raz gameplay as Raz kept on suiciding his troops. Little did I know my worries were for nothing.

Anyways, without further a due, this is my field report on the 4th game.

Chapter I - "RAZe-ing" the Ground

Phase I - The game started off with Raz being bunkered in his base at LT. What Raz had in his base was just 3 sunkens and 1 dozen zerglings:-

Phase II - Raz began teching to Mutalisks. Within 6.13 minutes into the game, 3 mutalisks were born for the sole purpose of being suicide bombers.

Phase III - Raz began to search for his first prey: Pip. Terran have always been good with defending against air attacks as they have a good s2a (surface 2 air) troops and their defensive structures, the Turret is cheap.

However, Raz was not deterred by this. Skillfully microing his Mutalisks into destroying a lone turret, Raz flew straight right into Pip's resource line, causing havoc with his remaining mutalisks.

Authors note: By destroying the lone turret on Pip's base, Raz mutalisks manage to cause damage to Pip's line slowing down his production. The remaining turret could not fire at the mutalisks as the range was to short.

Phase IV - Pip immediately thought of a trap against Raz mutalisks. An SCV sealed the mutalisks by building a turret (see pic below) and Pip's troops tried to move in for the kill.

However, Raz noticed the trap. With the remaining hit points on his healthy mutalisks, they escaped, leaving Pip's marines with nothing to kill.

Authors note: After hearing the stimpak injections, Raz mutalisks began to fly off.

Phase V - After learning his lesson from the costly lives of his SCV's, Pip constructed 2 turrets side by side to make sure that there will not be any interference by Raz mutalisks anymore. Raz laughed at this and began attacking the 2 turrets (he won, with a few more mutalisk to hound Pip's resource line). It was only with the intervention of the marines and medics that Raz was forced to retreat.

This however, was not a retreat. If it was anything, it was a fake retreat. In Raz's base, there was a new squad of mutalisks had been prepped out to continue the harrassment on Pip's base. Together with the survivors of the first attack, the mutalisk began attacking Pip's natural resource line. The new squad was sent in first to take out the last remaining turrets while the rest of the squad began attacking the vespene gas line, crippling Pip's resource line.

Satisfied that Pip's production line was crippled, Raz began to search for his next prey: FF.

Phase VI - Seeing how helpless Pip was towards Raz evil attacks, FF had begun amassing a huge number of Hydralisks. Hydralisks are powerful, medium armored troops of the Swarm. Having s2a attacks and s2s attacks at the same time, a whole group of hydralisk can take out practically anything.

Raz was aware of this and he still insisted on harrassing FF. As his "team" player, I was dumbfounded when he still went on to attack FF. After nearly losing all of his mutalisks and with nothing left in his base, I was practically immobilized as the sheer number of FF's and Pip's troops were just too many.

Yet, with my teammate superb-best-of-his-ability technique, Raz began to carry out guerilla tactics.

Authors note: FF had placed a few hydralisks on stand-by mode waiting for any attacks against his resource line.

Authors Note: Notice the remenants of the Hydralisks in the pic. Proof of how Raz sacrificed everything just to take out FF's troops just to get to his supply line.

Chapter 2 - "The Salt-ing" of the Earth

As Raz has been micro - harrasing with nothing but mutalisks, his base was brimming with resources. Happily, tons and tons of Zerglings were produced.
The Zerglings were equipped with premium 3 + 3 armor and attacks. To further sweeten his victory, the Zerglings were further up-graded with extra speed and adrenaling boost (faster attack speed).

With the insurmountable amount of vespene gas he also had lying idle, Mutalisks were transformed into Guardians.

At the same time, FF and Pip decided to do something against Raz's evil mutalisks. With the remaining resources they have, Valkeries and Scourges were created to counter the Mutalisks.

Chapter 3 - The Slaughter.

Battle Stage I -
Raz began attacking the weakest prey with his Swarm. The Guardians took out every single troops Pip had at the ramp. This was followed with the swarm of Zerglings. Halfway through the attack, Raz noticed Pip's SCV trying to secretly mine resources. They were guarded with a special envoy of Hydralisks by FF. Raz smiled.

Authors Note: If there was only some way to attack the Zerglings......

Till this very day, I can still hear Raz's evil laughter and mutalisk scouring the grounds of Lost Temple.

Excellent post. However, I can't seem to see the 1st few pics. Its hard to classify Raz's tactics because he no longer has signature tactics since his cannon king and hydra king days. I'm impressed he got his lings to 3:3.

If you think Raz's tactics is hard to classify and have no signature tactics, wait till you see the next post.....
